Apple Is Changing the Battery % Symbol in iOS 16 Due to Customer's Complaint.

Since the world first saw iOS 16's new battery % indication at the beginning of last month, people have had strong feelings about the icon.

Many people believed Apple could have done a better job with it. In its present form, the indicator remains static — showing merely a percentage – until your iPhone's battery falls below 20% capacity. It's a design choice that makes the indicator less useful than it should be, because most of the time you have to look attentively to see how much battery you have left.

Fortunately, Apple is working on an updated version of the symbol. The business launched the second iOS 16.1 beta earlier today (via MacRumors). The update includes, among other things, a change to the battery % indication. Instead of glowing red when your iPhone's battery drops below 20% charge, it will now steadily drain as the battery does. It's a little improvement, but it increases usability.

The lock screen has also been improved in beta two. When you put up your phone to charge, a battery % indicator appears briefly above the time, reintroducing a feature from iOS 15. One will also show on the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. The release date for the next version of iOS 16 is unknown. We'll also mention that Apple may adjust some of the modifications seen in beta two.
