Date, Price, Specs, and Features for the Sony Xperia 1 IV

Every year, Sony adds a new top-of-the-line phone to its Xperia line. The Sony Xperia 1 IV is pronounced this year: "Sony Xperia One Mach Four." It's a high-end flagship phone for Android power users and photographers, just like the Xperia 1 III of 2021.

The Sony Xperia 1 IV has been shown off, and ways to look at it, the phone is either very early or a little late. The Sony Xperia 1 III was shown off 13 months ago, but it didn't sell until nine months later. On July 1, 2022, the SONY Xperia 1 IV will be released in India (Unofficial). The phone will have a lot of interesting features and specs.

Sony-Xperia-IV

Overall, the Xperia 1 IV isn't that different from the Xperia 1 III, which came out in 2021. The way Sony makes things looks pretty much the same. There is still something close to a 4K display, a 3.5mm headphone jack, support for microSD cards, a capacitive fingerprint scanner, and many high-end specs and camera hardware.

Release Date

We know when the Xperia 1 IV will be released thanks to a video posted to the official Sony Xperia YouTube channel. The video promotes a launch event on May 11 and shows a brief history of the Xperia 1 line: the Xperia 1 in 2019, the Xperia 1 II in 2020, and the Xperia 1 III in 2021.

So it doesn't take Nostradamus to predict that the Xperia 1 IV will be on display.

There is no word on Australian availability yet, and that region is unlikely to get the phone because Sony does not sell its phones in Australia.

Price

We don't know how much the Xperia 1 IV will cost yet, but we can guess. Since the phone seems to be just a little bit better than the Xperia 1 III (see the next section), we would expect it to cost about the same.

The Xperia 1 III came out with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM for £1199/$1300 (about AU$2100). There's a good chance that the Xperia 1 IV will come out at the same price as the 1 III. So hopefully, the price of the 1 III will go down a bit.

Xperia-1-IV

But if you want a high-end Android smartphone with a headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and a stellar camera system, this is, quite literally, the only option available to you. Because of this, there will almost certainly be buyers willing to spend whatever it takes to obtain this device.

Specs and Features

The Sony Xperia 1 IV has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which most of the best phones of 2022 have. That is a top-of-the-line chipset with a lot of power.

Sony has also put a lot of work into the phone's gaming and music features.

It has features for gaming like a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, motion blur reduction, an audio equalizer, and voice chat optimization—tools like 120Hz recording, an audio mixer, and a voice changer for game streaming. So the Xperia 1 IV has specs that aren't too different from the Xperia 1 III.

As for audio, the Sony Xperia 1 IV has full-stage stereo speakers to make better sound. In addition, it has a 3.5mm headphone port, Sony Music Entertainment audio tuning, and high-resolution audio. If you're more interested in recording audio, the Sony Xperia 1 IV has you covered. It has an app called Music Pro that lets you record and mix audio.

Cameras

First of all, Sony's hardware is pretty amazing. The wide, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses on the back are good. The optical zoom features (explained in more detail below) are new and give users a great zoom experience. There are even fun additions, like the fact that all three of the back lenses can shoot in slow motion at 4K/120fps.

The front camera on the Sony Xperia 1 IV is 12MP, which is better than the 8MP camera on its predecessor. This new camera also has a bigger sensor, which should help it take better pictures in low light, and it can record video in up to 4K quality.

Since the Xperia 1 IV hardware is either the same as or better than the Xperia 1 III, we can only assume that the photos and videos will be better in 2022. But on the other hand, it was one of our favorite camera phones of 2021, and it could easily compete with the Google Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
