Dyson V11 vs. Shark Rocket Pet Pro: Which One You Should Choose for Your Home

The number of companies producing cordless vacuums has risen in recent years. One model stands out from the crowd: the Dyson V11 Torque Drive. Put, the V11 is the most excellent stick vacuum we've ever tested, but it's not the only reasonable option in the category.

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro is here to help. It costs $330 and has the cleaning power. It is comparable to the V11, yet it is a fraction of Dyson's luxury equipment price. What are the actual differences between these two current vacuum cleaners? Let's look at each model's specific strengths and weaknesses.

Cleaning Power

The fundamental goal of any vacuum is to remove as much dirt and debris as possible from your floors. The Dyson V11 Torque Drive does not disappoint in this regard. The V11 excelled in our most challenging vacuum test. That includes hardwood (99.59 percent), low-pile carpet (78.53 percent), and mid-pile carpet (78.53 percent) (71.57 percent ).

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro performed this test, sucking up as much sand from our testing floors as the Dyson V11. It took up 67.59 percent of low-pile carpeting, roughly 10% less than the V11. But it picked up 72.41 percent of thicker, plushier mid-pile carpeting, which tops Dyson by a hair.

Both vacuums had little trouble removing sand from hardwood floors. They lack carpet fibers for particles to cling to and hide beneath. The Shark took up 100 percent of the debris, while the Dyson V11 picked up 99.59 percent.

Pet hair is also not an issue. The V11 eliminated all signs of dander from mid-pile and low-pile carpets. The Dyson but missed a stray clump on hardwood, and a few stands became wrapped around the brush roll.

Meanwhile, pet hair on low-pile carpet and hardwood was no problem for the Rocket. During my mid-pile tests, it did miss a small clump of fluff.

Omit, the Shark Rocket Pet Pro comes very near to matching the Dyson V11's performance, but the V11 wins out.

Design and Ease of Use

The Dyson V11 comes with a convenient LCD screen that provides valuable information. It is like the battery level and expected runtime. The LCD sits above the handle on the rear of the machine. So it's always visible when you're using it, which is a fantastic design. It's also simple to empty the V11's garbage. Point the vacuum into the trash, bring it back, and push the release tab away from you.

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro's dustbin system isn't as complicated as some other vacuums. But it's better than most. The Hoover BladeMax, for example, is particularly troublesome since also being challenging to open. It's often difficult to detect if you connect the dustbin. Although the dustbin on the Rocket Pet Pro is better, Dyson's design wins out.

Extras

The Dyson V11 Torque Drive is the apparent winner extras, with the most cleaning tools in the box. You receive five extra attachments besides the main High Torque cleaner head. Here's a quick rundown of what's going on:

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro is the hands-down best choice if your goal is to save money, as it costs half as much as the Dyson V11. That's not to say you can't get a refurbished V11 model for a lower price. But even then, the savings pale compared to the Shark Rocket's low cost.

The Dyson V11 Torque Drive wins by a score of 3 to 1. It's not quite a clean sweep, but it's close. Suppose you prefer raw performance and many included features. The Shark Rocket Pet Pro is a clear choice if your goal is to save as much money as possible. 

The Dyson V11 Torque Drive is one of the most expensive cordless vacuum cleaners on the market, with a price tag of $600. It's also the most effective stick vacuum we've ever tested. Our lab floors were pristine after the V11 swept them, gathering up a variety of dirt and debris.

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro is less expensive than Dyson's flagship stick vacuum at $300. That isn't to say it isn't a worthy opponent. The Rocket matched the Dyson V11's fantastic ability to clean our test floors in many ways. Another reason to consider purchasing this machine is that it is simple to run.

In the end, each brand has its own set of advantages. However, the best option for you will be determined by your unique circumstances. Dyson is the superior bet if you want the most up-to-date technology and money is no object. However, if you're on a budget and only need the essential necessities, a Shark will suffice.
