Google Pixel Watch Could Get a Sporty Spin-off

Google Pixel Watch Could Get a Sporty Spin-off

The Google Pixel Watch has yet to be unveiled, but we've heard that it will follow a sport-focused version called the Pixel Watch Fit, which may or may not be released at the same time.

Google is either working on a different model with this name or going to call the normal Pixel Watch the Pixel Watch Fit, according to Twitter leaker @VNchocoTaco.

The bezels on this wearable appear to be quite thick, and it could cost over $400 (around £315 / AU$555). They price the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 at $249.99 / £249 / AU$399, while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic price at $349 / £349 / $549. So, at the very least, in the United States, the Pixel Watch Fit could be the most costly consumer wearable that isn't named Apple.

It may be in other places as well, since pricing conversions are rarely exact, and it'll at least match the Apple Watch 7, which starts at $399 / £369 / AU$599.

Of course, for the time being, this is only a rumor, but other sources are pointing to the Pixel Watch Fit name, with @chunvn8888 (another leaker) also claiming to have heard it.

In response to one of these tweets, render artist @ianzelbo claimed to have seen both aluminum and stainless-steel versions of the Pixel Watch, speculating that the aluminum variant could be the Pixel Watch Fit.

The photographs show the watch in black, with tiny bezels but a robust body. A circular screen, a crown, and at least one button are all present. Unfortunately, the band appears to be proprietary, so you won't have as many (or as inexpensive) band alternatives as you would with wearables that employ standard straps.

The watch reportedly wouldn't start up, so there's not much else to see, and we'd take this with a grain of salt. However, the Pixel Watch is already leaking, implying that it will be out soon and that this is the real deal.

Returning to the Pixel Watch Fit, while we can't be certain if this is a second wearable or not, we believe it is.

If the Pixel Watch Fit name is used, it seems odd that they will call the conventional model. Pixel Watch is a more clear, shorter, and simpler name. The name Pixel Watch Fit implies that there will be a non-Fit version as well.

So, if the Pixel Watch Fit name leak is correct – which is a big if – there will almost certainly be two models, though they may not be released at the same time.

Few Things About Google Pixel Watch

The Google Pixel Watch could be on its way. Google appears to be on the verge of releasing hardware to match its new version of Wear OS, which includes features from Tizen and Fitbit.

If Google does release a Pixel Watch, it will compete with the Apple Watch 7, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, and all other top smartwatches.

A slew of patents and acquisitions in the wearable market (ahem, Fitbit) indicate that the Pixel Watch will be out sooner than later. Furthermore, an increasing number of speculations suggest that the Pixel Watch is real and that they will release it within the next few months.

According to Google, smartwatches and fitness trackers are one of the fastest-growing consumer electronics categories. It would be prudent for Google to provide a standalone model as an accessory for its Pixel smartphones, such as the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro and the impending Google Pixel 6a and Pixel 7.
