In the holiday season of 2022, Hogwarts Legacy will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles. Hogwarts Legacy was revealed in late 2020, with an initial release date of 2021, although it was eventually pushed back to 2022. The "holiday" period brings us one step closer to a release date.
Not only that, but during today's State of Play Livestream devoted to the open-world RPG, WB Games Avalanche released a clip providing the first authentic look at how this sucker will look and play.
Hogwarts Legacy is a spinoff of the Harry Potter universe. However, it takes place far earlier than the events of the books. It takes place in the 1800s, with players in their fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where they will study spells, brew potions, produce magical plants, tame wild creatures, and attend lessons. Players have a unique capacity to harness ancient magic, which holds the secret to rescue the wizarding world from evil forces.
As familiar as that sounds, this is a game with unique plots, and JK Rowling (She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named) isn't directly engaged in its production. Hogwarts Legacy introduces new professors, students, villains, mentors, animals, and some returning ghosts. Players will be able to fly on broomsticks, make companions who will accompany them on adventures, and level up their powers according to how they like to play. It's not limited to Hogwarts; the stores at Hogsmeade are also open for business.
