Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: Here's What You Might Want to See

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 phone has a lot of exposure in terms of expectations. We gave it the title of the "best foldable phone" when it first launched. The bending-phone market has grown significantly. The next version of the device will have to outperform its predecessor if Samsung wants to retain the distinction.

The Oppo Find N and Honor Magic V have improved on the formula since the Z Fold 3 debuted, with less prominent screen folds and better specifications. As a result, we'll need to be blown away by the Z Fold 4 when it launches, if it does at all.

It will be Samsung's next foldable phone, which will most likely debut alongside the Z Flip 4 if the company's recent history is any indication and the next member of the Fold series of smartphones.

The foldable is expected to be released in August, and leaks for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are now pouring in. You can see them all below and our wish list of what we hope the phone will be like.

Release Date And Price

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is likely to be unveiled in August 2022, and it will be released either later in the month or in early September of that year. So, we say that because the company announced both of these phones in August of their release years. But they didn't go on sale for at least a few weeks.

However, there aren't any rumors about a release date yet, so we can't be sure that Samsung will follow through with that plan. The company showed off the original Samsung Galaxy Fold in February 2019. That didn't come out until September, though. We think it's very likely that the company will make an August announcement.

What the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is is something that we can only guess about right now. It starts at $1,799. That is the same price as the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Because users criticized Samsung's foldable phones for their prices, we think the Z Fold 4 will either have the same price or be a little less expensive to avoid this kind of thing.

Indeed, one source has specifically stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be less expensive, though it was unsure how much money they had saved.

Leaks And Breaking News

The largest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 leak to date indicates that it will have a 6.19-inch cover display and 7.56-inch main screen, which would result in dimensions that are very similar to those of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Note 8.

Additionally, according to the same sources, it will include a slot for the S Pen stylus. It will otherwise be similar to the Z Fold 3's design, emphasizing improving durability rather than aesthetics.

Another source has since stated that the phone will include a slot for the S Pen stylus and tougher glass and cameras significantly improved over the current models. We've also heard that the S Pen stylus production will begin in April 2022, suggesting that Samsung will produce many of them.

According to an early leak, Samsung will equip the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with an under-display camera, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Still, this time it will be less visible beneath the screen, and it will also be able to take better photos.

Another leak shows that the phone will have two under-display cameras, one for the main display and another for the smaller cover screen, consistent with the previous information.

Additionally, according to this latter source, the battery will be larger, the hinge will be redesigned to be lighter, more dust- and water-resistant, and the phone will be equipped with snappers similar to those found on the Galaxy S22.

However, according to a more recent rumor, the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be the same as that of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (which was released in 2015). The only positive aspect is that this may allow Samsung to make the phone smaller and/or more affordable due to the situation.

Another report says the phone will have a 10MP 3x optical zoom camera like the Galaxy S22. That would be better than the 12MP 2x zoom camera on the Z Fold 3. People also say that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could use the 108MP main camera from the Galaxy S22 Ultra to make it even more powerful.

A patent application also suggests that the upcoming foldable might have a fingerprint scanner under the screen.

However, this isn't just any old under-display fingerprint scanner. This one would be a double-sided one between the cover screen and the main screen, so you could unlock the phone from both places with the same piece of hardware. As always, we'd take this with a grain of salt.

What We Want To See

1. The Price is Lower than It Was before.

Many people don't want to pay for the Galaxy Z Fold range. There is a good reason why the price is high, but we'd like to see Samsung try to get it down.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 was lower in price than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.  Hopefully, Samsung will do the same thing with the Galaxy Z Fold.  We'd like to see these phones cost no more than high-end conventional ones, but we think that's a few years away.

2. Better Cameras

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a great phone for many things. But its cameras don't compare to those on the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and a few other phones from the same company.

How much we pay for these phones makes us want to see the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 get a new look. For the current model, we want 10x optical zoom instead of 2x. We also want an extra lens for 3x zoom.

We don't like many things about the Galaxy Z Fold 3's 4MP camera under its screen. It is a neat trick, but it feels like it was done half-assed.

3. Improved Battery Life

One thing that all foldable phones seem to have trouble with its battery capacity. They usually have batteries that are at best the same size as standard smartphones, even though their screens are usually bigger than standard phones.

In this case, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a 4,400mAh battery, which is about average for a non-foldable phone. But because it has two screens, one of which is 7.6 inches, the battery doesn't go very far here.

It didn't last more than a day with moderate use for our tests. It means that there's still a lot to make things better. Because we want the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 to have a bigger battery and last longer, we want to see that happen.
