With RX 6000 GPUs, AMD's New Driver Speeds Up Several Games Significantly

AMD has published a new graphics driver, which is currently in beta testing. Still, it is notable for the performance advantages it gives gamers with Team Red graphics cards.

The increase that AMD's Software Preview Driver May 2022 provides to RX 6000 GPUs, which were recently joined by a trio of additional models.

RX 6000 GPUs

AMD's RX 6000 graphics cards are a pivotal moment, allowing Team Red to finally ramp up and earn a spot in our top graphics card roundup. These cards are powered by the RDNA 2 architecture and include capabilities like ray tracing and supersampling to keep up with the latest games.

With the first cards arriving in November 2020 and the last in May 2022, nearly a dozen RX 6000 GPUs are currently available. Ten of the eleven cards in the RX 6000 series are now available. The RX 6600 XT, which AMD replaced with the RX 6650 XT, is the only outlier.

The RX 6000 series from AMD includes 11 cards, while the RX 6650 XT supersedes the RX 6600 XT. AMD's cards have faster clock speeds and a more excellent memory for mid-to-high-end cards. The RX 6X50 XT refreshes: RX 6950 XT, RX 6750 XT, and RX 6650 XT are the most relevant cards to mention. Each card has a minor boost in clock speed (up to 4.2 percent on the RX 6950 XT) and 18Gbps GDDR6 memory to increase bandwidth.

Although AMD's graphics cards have traditionally been a distant second to Nvidia's, this is not the case with the RX 6000 cards. In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the flagship RX 6950 XT managed 68 frames per second at 4K. The RX 6700 XT holds its own against the RTX 3070 at 1440p, averaging 121 frames per second with the Ultra graphics preset in Fortnite. Although they compete with Nvidia's RTX 3060, the RX 6600 and RX 6600 XT are ideal for 1080p gaming.

Speeds Up Several Games

RX 6000 GPUs include some astounding increases for specific titles, such as World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, which can run up to 30% quicker with this preview (beta) driver, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which can run up to 28% faster (compared to the Adrenalin version 22.5.1 graphics driver). According to AMD's tests, Total War Saga: Troy receives a 17 percent boost, while GTA V gets an 11 percent boost, Watch Dogs: Legion receives a 10% boost, and Valorant gets a 7% boost.

AMD has introduced a new version 1.1 of the Radeon Super Resolution and core performance improvements. It is Team Red's frame rate booster that works in various games. RSR 1.1 adds an effect slider that, as the name implies, sharpens up the image so you may customize the look.

Additionally, some Smart Access Memory (SAM) improvements have been made for Death Stranding and Watch Dogs: Legion, with up to a 10% improvement in the former and a 13% improvement in the latter.
